Cade and I rendezvoused at the crack of dawn, meeting at 5am, embarking on a journey to the Koonyum Ranges to greet the rising sun while Cade would prepare a delectable curry. As he popped open his car trunk, a mesmerizing sight unfolded before my eyes — his entire kitchen it seemed, a collection of culinary treasures. Among them were his handcrafted mortar and pestle crafted with a heavy rock found at the beach, meticulously forged knives, exquisite wooden and copper utensils, and an array of ceramic and stone pots, some from his Quiet Earth collection, while others bore the stamps of his globetrotting adventures.

"They connect us to a rich legacy of cooking imbued with the profound intention to nourish us on every conceivable level," Cade remarked. "Using earthen cookware is a way to breathe life into traditions, a means of championing the artisans who dedicate their lives to crafting these vessels."

ith his exquisite array of kitchenware and an assortment of plant-based ingredients, we embarked on a brief hike, searching for the ideal location for Cade to orchestrate his culinary masterpiece. Cade, a culinary, infuses his creations with intentions and a deliberate, unhurried approach and you can taste and feel this in his cooking.

"I'm drawn to the concept of 'consciousness over convenience,' a philosophy that governs both my life and my culinary endeavors," he shared. "I draw immense inspiration from the ancient ways — cooking with clay, grinding ingredients between stones, and embracing the dance of fire. These methods evoke emotions that elude description. They tether me to an unbroken lineage of those who have come before me. Cooking, after all, has sustained human existence. When I'm nestled in the bush by the seaside, cooking amidst the great outdoors, I feel most authentically myself."
